How deep
Standard grinding takes the stump to roughly 150mm to 300mm below the surface, which is enough for turf, gravel or planting. If you are laying a patio or building over it, say so and we will go deeper.

Remove unsightly stumps below ground level
A stump left in the ground is a trip hazard, a mower killer and, in time, a honey fungus risk. Grinding cuts it out below ground level with a purpose built machine, so you get the space back.

Machines come in different widths. A narrow access grinder will get through most side gates, so a back garden stump is usually no obstacle. Let us know the tightest gap on the route when you call.
Grinding is destructive by design, so we check for buried pipes and cables before starting. If you know where a water main, gas pipe or electrical run crosses the area, tell us.
You are left with a hole and a volume of woodchip and soil. It can be backfilled with the arisings and levelled off, or taken away if you would rather start with clean ground.
